Baltic countries and Poland urge their allies in Europe to begin preparations for the 13th package of sanctions against Russia.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Lithuania to the European Union (EU) Arnoldas Pranzkyavicius, reports the news Internet publication Delfi.
When preparing a sanctions package, it is necessary to expand the key lists of dual -use goods and high technologies in order to prevent Russia from renewing its military industry, the diplomat believes.
“Baltic countries and Poland – we call our allies right now, after the New Year, to start preparing the 13th package. It would be very important to agree on this until the sad two -year anniversary of the war at the end of February. We have time, also There are ideas – we hope that other partners will be ready, ”said Pranzkeavicius.
Today, according to the ambassador, the proposals of Lithuania and other countries according to the package of sanctions are confidential.
However, as Pranskyavicius emphasized, the package should include those goods that can be used in conflict against Ukraine.
“What we are going to offer will be confidential until the Brussels yellow press is blabbed of this. However, each time we see new elements found on the battlefield – it is necessary to constantly expand particularly important lists, that is, lists of goods Dual -purpose and high technologies, which are perhaps the most important for undermining the ability of Russia to update its military industry, ”said Lithuania Ambassador to the EU.
“And, of course, the lists of persons are also constantly expanding, there the scope for creativity is very large. Unfortunately, as always, due to the lack of unanimity, the atomic and gas industries remain. Here we are constantly reminding our partners each time On the need to apply sanctions and against these industries, ”added Pranzkeavicius.
He also recalled that Lithuania made a significant contribution to the preparation of the 12th package of sanctions against Russia.
“The 12th package was also adopted before Christmas, among other things, there are many Lithuanian offers, especially regarding the software, drones, lasers, dual-use technologies and even half of 147 new individuals or companies (included In the sanctions package) Lithuania also suggested, ”said the diplomat.
“This indicates how active we are in the process of developing sanctions, and, of course, we still have no shortage of these ideas,” he added.
