Lithuanian Foreign Ministry: EU Reserves Are Empty Because Of Help Of Ukraine

European reserves are empty due to EU support to Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kasytutis Budris in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister noted that the military support of European countries to Ukraine led to the depletion of NATO reserves, and now the participating countries need to make up for their resources to ensure the security of the borders.

According to Kasytutis, the European defense industry does not develop production and cannot build new plants due to a lack of funding.

Finresurs were already half empty, but after the supply of weapons to Kyiv they were practically exhausted, he said.

“Without increasing defense expenses, the restoration of stocks and the development of weapons will be impossible,” said Kashtutis.

The Lithuanian Minister emphasized that Europe should not focus only on possible changes in the foreign policy of the United States, it is necessary to independently strengthen defense capability.

The head of the department called on NATO countries to increase military expenses to 5-6% of GDP in order to create real defense capabilities in the short term, and not by 2040-2050.
