Senior representatives of the defense industry of Great Britain discuss in Kyiv plans for the production of weapons and military equipment in Ukraine.
This was reported by The Telegraph with reference to sources in the industry.
The newspaper writes that British representatives are considering and discussing the possibilities of “creating joint ventures that would produce weapons and vehicles on the license on Ukrainian territory.”
The publication notes that “other European defense companies are also negotiating with Ukraine, while British companies seek to prevent French and German competitors to deal with a crushing blow.”
“There is a race to put the UK” at the beginning of the queue “, one of the leaders in the field of defense industry told The Telegraph.
“This happened after Rishi Sunak (British Prime Minister – Ed.) opened the door to send UK fighters to Ukraine in response to the requests of Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky during his unexpected trip to London last week,” – indicates the publication.
The article says that production at a joint venture in Ukraine “would help to end Kyiv’s dependence on handouts from the West.”
The newspaper recalls that European allies and the United States sent Kyiv weapons and equipment to “billions of pounds, but Ukraine still needs huge volumes of support”.
According to the authors, these needs cause fears due to the fact that the West will not be able to increase production to a sufficient extent to replenish its own weapons warehouses and continue to supply weapons to Ukraine.
Dauning Street and the Ministry of Defense refused to comment, saying that this is an industry, notes The Telegraph.
