In Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday, events started as part of the coronation of Charles III, as well as the Kamilla Queen-Kamill.
Formally, King Charles III became the day after the death of September 8, 2022 of his mother – Queen Elizabeth II.
Starting from 06:00 local time, viewing platforms opened throughout the Royal procession from the Buckingham Palace to the Westminster Abbey. The length of the path will be 2.29 km.
200 military personnel were entrusted to accompany the procession for the abbey, mainly from the palace cavalry. In total, about four thousand military are involved in the coronation day to ensure security.
The royal procession will hit the road from the Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.
After that, a two -hour coronation ceremony will begin, which will consist of several stages.
During the first stage, Charles III will be represented by a subject: he will have to turn to the four cardinal points, after which he will be proclaimed to the “undoubted king”, and those present will have to swear to him in the right service.
Further, Charles III will have to bring the royal oath.
After that, the king will sit on the coronation chair or chair of St. Edward, made in 1300, and the archbishop will anoint him with sacred oil, drawing the cross on the forehead, chest and hands of the monarch. This part of the ceremony will be hidden from the public, as it is considered the most sacred.
At the next, most solemn stage, Charles III will be crowned: he will wear the crown of St. Edward for the only time in his life.
The king is putting on a ceremonial robe, after which he will be presented with royal regalia. Further, the archbishop will lay the crown on his head, call the bells of the abbey, the pipes will sound and the arms salute will pass throughout the UK.
The final stage of the ceremony will be climbing the throne.
Charles III will become the 40th ruling monarch, crowned in Westminster Abbey since 1066.
After that, a simpler ceremony of Camilla coronation will pass, the queen will not take an oath.
About 2.3 thousand people were invited to the Coronation to Westminster Abbey, including members of the royal family, representatives of 203 countries, as well as public and charitable figures. The ceremony will visit about 100 chapters of states.
