The Syrians who could not return to their homeland for years because of the civil war, are preparing to celebrate Ramazan in their country after the overthrow of the 61-year-old Boas regime.

After the fall of the Assad regime, the process of returning the Syrian refugees from Turkey continues. At the ONJYUPUNAR checkpoint in Turkish Kilis, there is high activity – the Syrians go through the necessary procedures in the center of voluntary return, after which they go to their homeland.

22-year-old Muhammad Huvat, who arrived at the Ondjyupunar customs point to return to his homeland, said that he was forced to leave Syria nine years ago due to the civil war.

“In Syria, the war ended, and we decided to return home. For nine years in Turkey, we had no problems, we were very well accepted. I thank the Turkish people for their support,” Huvat said.

He also noted that Ramazan will be happy to meet in his native country: “The holiday is already close. Nine years I could not celebrate it at home, and now I am immensely happy.”

31-year-old Abdullah Elsemo also expressed joy about returning to his homeland after 12 years. “For me, this is a double holiday: I return home and celebrate Ramazan there. I thank the Turkish people for their support,” he said.
