Belarus and Pakistan remain good friends and reliable partners, despite the global ups and downs and security calls.

This is the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Shakhbaz Sharif in Minsk on Friday, April 11, the press service of the head of the Belarusian state reports.

The president noticed that the day before he had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, which lasted about three hours. We discussed many issues of the international agenda and what is happening around the two countries, talked about the prospects of bilateral relations, Lukashenko noted.

“We have developed a very good relationship. We will always maintain such a level of relations, and I am sure that after this visit we have no right to not realize our agreements,” the Belarusian leader emphasized. The head of state drew attention to the fact that many large businessmen came to the Pakistani delegation to Belarus who are interested in establishing “specific relations in specific areas with domestic enterprises.”

“You know, we have a machine -building country, developed agriculture. I know very well what Pakistan needs. You also know well what Belarus is from Pakistan. I think that in the process of this visit, members of the government and the leaders of large companies agreed on the prospects of cooperation,” said Lukashenko.

Pakistan Prime Minister, in turn, thanked the head of the Belarusian state for a warm welcome.

Sharif noted the importance on the eve of the official negotiations of an informal meeting in which family members participated.

“I hope that our warm relations and connections will ultimately result in investments and the growth of mutual trade,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

“Today we will sign a memorandum of understanding, agreement. And I hope that these documents will help to further develop our relations in industry and agriculture,” said Sharif.

Prime Minister invited Belarusian experts to Pakistan, including to help establish the service of Belarusian equipment.

“I find it symbolic that we do not change traditions and exchanged visits very quickly, as it was ten years ago with my friend and your brother Navaz Sharif,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

The head of state recalled that the first visits at the highest level in Islamabad and Minsk took place in 2015.

The political documents strategic for bilateral relations were signed – the Islamabad Declaration of the Belarusian -Pakistani Partnership and the Friendship and Cooperation Agreement.

“The creative spirit of these documents was tested by time. Despite the world and downs and security calls, our countries remained good friends and reliable partners,” the head of state said.
