Maya Sanda: I talked about this with President of Azerbaijan

Against the background of the crisis in connection with the sharp gas deficit in Moldova, the President of Maya Sanda said that I requested help from Romania, Poland, Germany and Azerbaijan, reports Haqqin.az.

“As a president, I requested help from the main partners of Moldova in overcoming the gas crisis and received assurances that residents of the republic will not leave someone in the face of this crisis. I talked about this with the presidents of Romania, Poland, Germany, Azerbaijan,” said Sanda, the words of which leads RIA Novosti.

The head of the Moldovan state noted that the situation was viewed jointly with European officials during her visit to Vienna. Sanda expressed the hope that the country will come out of the crisis as quickly as possible.

According to the president, while the prices for natural gas in European markets increased to fantastic sizes, Moldova could not negotiate with the Russian Gazprom and as a result was in a difficult situation with fuel supplies.

Recall, gas in Moldova came from Russia based on a contract signed with Gazprom in 2008, but its term has expired on September 30, after which the parties failed to agree on new supplies. The Russian company declares that Moldova can resume gas supplies to this country after paying the accumulated debt in the amount of $ 700 million. Otherwise, since December Gazprom will stop supplying gas to Moldova.

According to reports, the Russian side insists that Moldova should change its pro-Western orientation and return to the orbit of the influence of Moscow, if she wants to receive gas at relatively low prices. Sanda in turn rejects this condition.

October 22 due to the current situation, the Parliament of Moldova declared a state of emergency in the country. Chisinau purchased 1 million cubic meters of gas from the Polish PGNIG and the Netherlands Vitol, but this is not enough. If the crisis in gas supply can not be eliminated, the country risks encounter a new electric power crisis.
