Maya Sandu took the oath as the president of the Republic of Moldova. The inauguration ceremony was held in the Palace of the Republic in Chisinau, Moldovan State Media reports on Tuesday, December 24th.
A joint solemn meeting of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Constitutional Court was opened by the speaker Igor Gros.

Then Maya Sandu, putting her hand on the constitution, took the oath. “I swear to give all my strength and ability in the name of the prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, to observe the Constitution and laws of the country, to protect democracy, fundamental rights and freedoms of man, sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Moldova,” Maya Sandu said.
The head of state said that Moldova is a worthy country with strong and persistent citizens. “And Moldova, despite all the pressure, voted for a clear direction: a developed country, a European country, where we can have more security and prosperity,” the president continued.
Sandu emphasized that the country began to free itself from energy dependence. “Even if prices are still high, no one will hold us. We managed to open the door to the European Union widely. There is still a lot to do, but the road is correct,” the politician said.
“At the end, I want to say that during the first mandate I worked selflessly and will continue to work with even greater will and energy. We have done what has never been done in 30 years of independence. Moldova is more respected than ever, than ever, The world looks at us with respect and interest and supports us in our dreams.
After the oath, the chairman of the Constitutional Court announced that from today the President of the Republic of Moldova has been taking office.
According to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the oath is brought in parliament and the Constitutional Court no later than 45 days after the election. The powers of the President of the Republic of Moldova last four years and are carried out from the date of the oath.
Sandu won the second round of the elections of the President of Moldova, which took place on November 3, at which she received 55.35 percent of votes. Sandu ran for the party “Action and Solidarity”.
