Meeting Of Strategic Council Of Turkmenistan – UN Was Held In Ashgabat

In Ashgabat, the third meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council “Turkmenistan – UN” took place. This is stated in the message of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by the relevant deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the heads and representatives of the ministries and departments of the country, the head of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan abroad, the UN Coordinator, the head and representatives of the UN agencies, the special representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia, and the head UN regional center for preventive diplomacy for Central Asia.

During the discussion, current issues of the interaction of Turkmenistan with the United Nations in various directions were considered. In this context, participants in the meeting discussed programs and design documents, including the draft framework of the framework of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations organization for 2026-2030 and joint programs with the UN program through youth, education, healthcare, digitalization and green energy.

A roadmap was also approved to strengthen reporting on the SDUR in Turkmenistan in the period from 2025 to 2027. In this context, the meeting participants discussed coordination issues related to the preparation of reports and publications on achieving sustainable development goals in Turkmenistan on a systemic basis.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed in detail specific steps to create a UN regional center for technologies related to climate change in Central Asia.

Following the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the UN country team in the country for supporting and contribution to the development of constructive cooperation.
