The memorial service for the former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi, who died on Monday at the 87th year of his life, ended in the Cathedral of Milan. More than 2 thousand people gathered in a goodbye to the politician: family members, country leaders, foreign politicians. The environment is declared the day of national mourning in memory of Berlusconi.
Memorial Mass was headed by Archbishop of Milan Mario Delpini. The president of Italy Sergio Mattarell arrived in the cathedral, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Iraq President Abdel Latif Rashid, as well as members of the Italian government, including Prime Minister George Melony and two Deputy Prime Ministers-Antonio Tayani and Matteo Salvini. The Berlusconi Party “forward, Italy” is one of the three pillars of the ruling coalition along with the “brothers of Italy” Meloni and “League” Salvini. The last three on the eve of the Berlusconi’s personal villa in Arcore at parting. The ceremony in Milan was also attended by the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Mario Draga and the head of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament Manfred Weber.
Turkey at the ceremony was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and the Deputy Chairman of the PSR Omer Chelik.
The message published on the Twitter account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says:
“Our Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and the Deputy Chairman of the Omer of the Omer Chelik were present at the funeral of the former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. They transferred the condolences of Turkey to the friend and ally of Italy. Hakan Fidan also visited the service building of the Consulate General of Turkey in Milan.”
The coffin with the body of a politician on Wednesday will be taken again to the villa in Arkor. According to the media, the body will be cremated, and the ashes will be stored in a mausoleum on a personal family villa, which was built at the request of Berlusconi during his lifetime.
The politician died on June 12 at the 87th year of his life in the San Raffaele Milan Hospital, where he was on June 9.
