Negotiations on the formation of the ruling coalition of Germany after the September elections in the Bundestag will be delayed so much that Angela Merkel will remain a chancellor at least before Christmas. This opinion was expressed by the head of the parliamentary fraction of the left party Ditmar Barch in an interview with Phoenix TV channel.
“My rating: Angela Merkel will still be a Christmas Chancellor. I predict that this [negotiations on the formation of the coalition] will last very long, because, most likely, no party will come close to the achievement of 30% of the votes of voters,” – Barch believes.
Official term of office Merkel will end with the first meeting of the new Bundestag, but it will fulfill them before the formation of the new Cabinet. Parliamentary elections will be held in Germany on September 26.
