Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, located with a farewell visit in Israel, once again emphasized Germany’s responsibility for the security of the Jewish state. She declared this before the start of a joint meeting with the Israeli Cabinet of Ministers, reports Deutsche Vell.
According to her, the fact that despite the crimes of the Nazis in relation to the Jewish people, two countries managed to build a good relationship, is a happy case. The Israeli side introduced a great contribution to this relationship. However, the Holocaust remains a special event for which Germany carries and will bear historical responsibility, the Chancellor stressed.
“Germany does not remain neutral when it comes to the security of Israel, on the contrary, the safety of Israel is one of the foundations of our state policy,” the Federal Chancellor stressed.
Visit Merkel to Israel took place shortly before the end of her period of stay as Chancellor at the invitation of the new Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Benneta. It was originally scheduled for August 28-30, but then the trip was canceled due to the situation in Afghanistan.
