Minsk agreements gave Ukraine “precious time” to become stronger, said ex-chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel in an interview with the German Die Zeit.
“The 2014 Minsk Agreements were an attempt to give time to Ukraine. She also used this time to become stronger, as you can see today. Ukraine 2014/15 is not Ukraine today,” Merkel said, civing as an example of battles For Debaltseve in the Donetsk region in 2015.
“And I doubt very much that then NATO countries could do as much as they do now to help Ukraine,” Merkel added.
