According to the Argentinean star, Lionel Messi, playing for one of the leading teams of the American 1st Football League (MLS) “Inter Miami”, foreign players make MLS stronger.
In an interview with the Simplemente Futbol YouTube channel, Messi said that the league level grew because clubs of the American 1st Football League sign many young foreign players.
According to him, the American League is experiencing the most competitive season since its transition in the summer of 2023.
“MLS is a very power league, and many young players compensate for their shortcomings with physical data. It may seem that this is not so, but the teams run a lot. Especially in the last minutes when we watch matches where open spaces are often created. It seems to me that the teams become better every day. This season, many teams have strengthened their compositions by foreign players,” he said.
Messi, who is brought this season in the same team with his former Barcelona partners Luis Suarez, Sergio Buskitts and Jordi Alba, claims that the league level will grow even more if MLS weakens its transfer restrictions.
Stressing that he is happy to play MLS, the 37-year-old star player emphasized: “The truth is that I like here. Although I have to travel a lot, but this is a league that you can enjoy.”
