Mexico transferred the United States 29 people accused in connection with drug trafficking.
In a statement by the Government of Mexico, it is reported that these persons were transferred to the American authorities in the framework of cooperation between countries. The prisoners were accused of crimes related to drugs, and were in prisons throughout the country.
The transfer took place after US President Donald Trump recognized eight criminal organizations from Venezuela, Salvador and Mexico “Foreign Terrorist Organizations”.
The official message emphasizes that the process of detention, transfer and official transfer of prisoners was carried out within the framework of the established protocols, with respect to the sovereignty of both countries. The statement also notes that this is part of the coordination and cooperation efforts between the USA and Mexico.
The US Department of Justice clarified that among the transmitted prisoners is the former leader of the Hvadalahara Cartel Rafael Karo Kintero, accused of the murder of the agent of the Drug Control Department (DEA) Enrique Kiki Kamaren in 1985.
Trump, in turn, said that the flows of drugs from Mexico and Canada continue, and added that the tariffs for these countries planned on March 4 and will enter into force on schedule.
