President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum made an appeal at a rally that gathered thousands of people, calling for the United States to mutual respect and continue dialogue.
Schinbaum’s performance took place after US President Donald Trump suspended the introduction of additional 25%customs duties on goods from Mexico for a month. At a rally held on Sokalo Sokalo in Mexico City, the president said that Mexico intends to strengthen relations with the United States on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation.
“We are sure that relations between Mexico and the USA will always be strengthened through mutual respect and dialogue. I tell the American people that we do not have and will never intention to harm them. We are strongly tuned to cooperation with them in all areas,” said Shanbaum.
The president also emphasized that Mexico will continue cooperation with the United States to prevent fentanil from getting to youth. “We do not want this drug to reach not only young people in the United States, but also in other countries, including Mexico,” she said.
Shanbaum recalled that over the past 30 years, Mexico and the United States signed two trading agreements. She emphasized that the goal of Mexico is not only the economic integration of North America, but the entire continent: “We strive to become the most powerful region of the world, respecting freedom, independence and sovereignty of all peoples.”
Reminding the border with a length of 3180 kilometers between the two countries, the Sheinbaum noted the importance of trade, economic and cultural ties between Mexico and the USA.
