On Thursday, the Ministry of Defense of South Korea caused a military attache of Russia in Seoul to express a protest in connection with the entry of Russian military aircraft into the Korean air defense zone and identification (Kadiz) for the eighth time in ten days.
According to Yonhap agency with reference to the Ministry of Defense of South Korea, over the past 10 days, Russian military aircraft have invaded the identification zone of air defense eight times without prior notice.
In this regard, the military attache of the Russian Federation in Seoul Nikolai Marchenko was called to the ministry to express protest.
Air Defense and ADIZ identification zone does not have a clear definition in international law and cannot be controlled by any international bodies. The states set it unilaterally.
Adiz does not apply to civilian aircraft that does not intention to violate the country’s airspace. However, military aircraft included in this zone are considered as a potential threat and receive warnings.
