Military coup in Sudan: Seven killed, more than 140 wounded

Seven were killed, more than 140 people were injured as a result of collisions between soldiers and street protesters during the military coup in Sudan, the Ministry of Health of the country reports.

On Monday, October 25, General Abdel Fatti Al-Burkhan dismissed the military civilian sovereign advice, which was created to lead the country after the overthrow of Omar Al-Bashir during the national uprising two years ago.

Burkhan announced the introduction of a state of emergency in the country, stating that the Armed Forces should provide security. He promised to hold elections in July 2023 and then transfer the power to the Selected Civil Government.

“What is now going through the country is a real threat to the dreams of young people and the hopes of the nation,” he said in the appeal to the people.

The Ministry of Information of Sudan, which is still loyal to overthrown Prime Minister Abdulla Hmedoka, stated on his Facebook page that the transitional constitution only gives the Prime Minister to declare a state of emergency, and that the actions of the military are a crime.
