“I am more inclined to the fact that the presence of Russian border guards in the village of Voskartar (on the border with Azerbaijan in the Tovuz and Gazakh district site – HaqQin.az) can provide free movement of Azerbaijanis on the so-called enclave territories. Such an opinion in conversation with news Armenia-News.am expressed Military expert Karen Hovhannisyan.
“Otherwise, for the Russian military presence, there are no other valid reasons for the Russian military, it may be done to ensure the safety of these villages or to solve the issue of delivery,” said the expert.
According to Hovhannisyan, this process is in a phased character, so in the next 1-2 years it is unlikely that this issue will be resolved largely. “I think Armenia went on concessions, given a relatively stable situation in Gegharkunik (on the border with Kelbajar – Haqqin.az) and Ararat regions lately,” he said.
Hovhannisyan noted that the occuring process is directly related to these settlements and possible further development around them.
“In the next stage, such processes can be in Arzvashean (Bashkend), then in Tigranous (Kerki), followed by mutual recognition of the boundaries between Armenia and Azerbaijan, because in some parts Azerbaijanis are located in our territory, in some places We are on their territory. I think there is a backstage agreement, according to which such preparations are being conducted, for which real events may follow, “said the military expert.
