Millions of smartphones were at risk of disconnecting

Check Point Research (CPR) spoke about the vulnerability in smartphones, which allows you to remotely disconnect the connection. This is reported by the publication Techradar.

According to experts, the vulnerability of the CVE-2022-20210 affects the smartphones equipped with the Unisoc modem. As a rule, this component is used in inexpensive phones. According to experts, modems are built in 11 percent of devices on the market – mainly sold in Africa and Asia. Thus, the problem affects millions of devices.

The report says that with the help of vulnerabilities, hackers can remotely disable equipment and cellular communications. From this it follows that attackers can use the problem to destroy communications in certain places. It also turned out that the vulnerability was estimated at 9.4 out of 10, which reflects its danger.

The CPR statement says that Unisoc engineers have already prepared a patch that corrects the error. “Users do not need to do anything right now, although we strongly recommend applying a patch that will be released in the upcoming Android update,” said Slava McCaveev, a company representative.
