In Sugovushan, the opening ceremony of the Mingychevir Regatta took place. The competition will take part in 13 countries. In addition to Azerbaijani athletes, these are also rowers of Bulgaria, Italy, Georgia, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Kazakhstan, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
The first to the public was the Secretary General of the Kanoe Federation and rowing Azerbaijan Farhad Aliyev. Further, the word was provided to the presidents of foreign federations. In particular, the head of the Serbian Federation Dushan Kovachevich noted that he “is very pleased to be in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.”
“Serbia also has an occupied territory. This is Kosovo. And thanks to Azerbaijan that he does not recognize this territory, because it is Serbian land,” said Kovachevich.
Farid Gaibov, Minister of Youth and Sports, spoke further before the audience. He recalled that this is the second competition in Sugovushan.
“In May, there was the first competition, and it became the first sporting event on all our liberated lands. And now five months later we are here again. I thank the Kanoe Federation and rowing Azerbaijan for a very high level of organization. Let the strongest win!”. /p>
The competition will last three days and end on October 23. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow the regatta will take place in Mingychevir.
