In Azerbaijan, constant measures are being carried out to bring a higher and secondary special medical education in accordance with the challenges of time and raise the professional training of personnel to a qualitatively new level. Since 2011, resident training has been introduced in the country. If at first the training of specialist doctors was conducted in 40 specialties, now – 56 specialties.
According to Haqqin.az, this is stated in an article by the Minister of Education Teimur Musaev, published in the information and analytical journal Milli Majlis.
The minister noted that the training of residents is carried out in higher medical educational institutions, hospitals and scientific centers. The Electronic University system, launched at the Azerbaijan Medical University using the “examination module”, is improved, education goes to a digital system. Within the framework of this project, a “electronic training system” was created, which gives students the opportunity to see their own results through personal accounts, including daily entries about their university life.
“Three curriculum (medical affairs, pharmaceuticals and dentistry) presented by AMU on January 28, 2022 by the World Medical Education Federation (WFME) and an independent agency for accreditation and rating (IAAR), officially recognized since 2017, were accredited by 5 years. This will allow the Azerbaijan Medical University to increase its international reputation, advance in the rating list, attract more students from more countries to the university, ”said Musaev.
According to the minister, for the first time, the “Innovation Center for Medicine and Pharmaceuticals” was created at AMU, which operates as a educational and experimental base for students of the pharmaceutical faculty. Currently, along with doctors, attention is paid to the training of average medical personnel. Their preparation is carried out in 11 medical colleges in 9 specialties. In 6 colleges, along with secondary education, advanced training is carried out. With the opening of new departments in three colleges operating in the regions, an increase in the number of specialties studied in them was achieved.
