Since the beginning of 2024, a total of 1551 fires have been prevented, including more than 880 forest and 670 agricultural fires. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey Ibrahim Yumakla.
The minister noted that the fire management center, which is in the introduction of the Main Directorate of Forestry (OGM), is operating around the clock and seven days a week. According to him, all the information and images regarding fires are entered the center, from here the management is also carried out.
Humacles noted that global warming and climate change affect all regions of the world, including Turkey.
“Since the beginning of 2024, we have prevented a total of 1551 fire, including 881 forest fire and 670 agricultural fires,” Yumakly said.
He indicated that eight fires in June of this year were highly risk.
The Ministry evaluates forest fires in three stages, and a pre -trial study is being conducted as part of the first stage, he explained.
“This year, our forest organization has reached the most powerful air and ground fleet in its history, as well as equipping the technical infrastructure,” the minister added.
