On November 18, the Minister of Trade of Turkey Omer Bolat, together with the delegations of the Turkish Assembly of Exporters (TIM) and the Turkish association of contractors (TCA) will make a two -day visit to Iraq.
Economic relations with Iraq, one of the most important countries in the foreign trade of Turkey, are gradually strengthening in recent years.
According to the information received by the correspondent of the Anadolu agency (AA) at the Ministry of Trade, Minister Bolat will visit the capital of Iraq Baghdad and Basra on November 18-19, together with the General Trade delegation, formed at the organization of TIM, a delegation of contractors organized by the Association Turkish contractors, and companies accompanying them.
During the visit, Turkish businessmen will meet with Iraqi businessmen and consider the possibilities for the development of bilateral relations. In addition, round tables will be held with the participation of contracting companies in the capital of Baghdad and Basra.
, within the framework of the visit, the issues of further strengthening the existing trade and economic ties between the two countries will also be discussed and attempts will be made to strengthen the role of Turkish companies in Iraq.
Bolat in Baghdad will be adopted by the Prime Minister of Iraq Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, will hold bilateral meetings with the Minister of Trade of Iraq Eir Davud Salman al-Grary and the minister of transport by Rezzak Muhaibis, and will also hold a meeting with the governor of Basra Assad al-Yidani in Basre .
The minister will take part in the events of the Trade Delegation program with al-Grary in Baghdad on November 18 and with al-Yidani in Basra on November 19.
Bolat’s visit to Iraq, organized with the widespread participation of Turkish businessmen, is aimed at further strengthening the commercial and investment aspect of the recently developing relations between the two countries and increasing the efficiency of Turkish contractors in the infrastructure and superstructure projects of Iraq, especially in the project “Development Road”, which will connect the Persian bay with European countries.
In January-October of this year, Turkey exports to Iraq increased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period last year and reached $ 10.8 billion. Iraq imports for the specified period decreased by 41 percent and amounted to 3.7 billion dollars. The volume of trade amounted to $ 14.5 billion.
Today, Turkish contracting companies have implemented 1111 projects in Iraq in the amount of $ 34.9 billion. According to this indicator, Iraq became the third country in the world where Turkish companies implement the largest number of projects.
, using visits and joint events, it is planned to maintain the achieved level of bilateral trade with Iraq and even more expand the activities of contracting companies in Iraq.
