The Turkish armed forces continue their mission in Syria. This was reported in the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey.
“If necessary, Turkish units in Syria can change the location and go to various regions,” the department noted.
The ministry added that between the Turkish side and the Syria authorities, “continuing contacts and interaction in the framework of efforts to expand the capabilities of the Syrian army in the field of defense and security.”
The statement emphasizes that residents of the Syria regions captured by the Red Army/YPG are opposed to the presence of a group on their land. “Local residents who are true owners of the regions occupied by the terrorist organization no longer want to endure its presence. They want the organization that occupied the lands to immediately leave them,” it was said in the message.
Since January 1, 2025, the Turkish Armed Forces neutralized in the north of Syria and Iraq, a total of 221 terrorists. This was announced at a briefing on January 23, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Turkey Zeki Akturk.
According to him, 64 militants were neutralized in Iraq, another 157 managed to eliminate in Syria.
