Ministry of Education begins certification of teachers

Since June, the process of phased certification of teachers working in public schools will begin. The head of the personnel department of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan, Eshgi Bagirov, said that certification would be carried out this year in Azerbaijan for the first time. The aim of certification of education workers is to verify the professional level of workers with higher and secondary specialized education engaged in pedagogical activities in educational institutions, assistance in achieving their professional growth and studying their needs. This was told about Haqqin.az in the Ministry of Education.

According to Bagirov, certification in no case is aimed at dismissing teachers. After certification for weak teachers, courses, trainings, seminars will be extended to improve their qualifications.

At the first stage, in the process of certification, a primary school teacher will participate in the subordination of the Baku, Apsher-Khizinsky, Guba-Khachmazsky and Ganja-Dashkessian regional departments of education, as well as directly the Ministry of Education. In total, more than 11,000 teachers are expected to participate in the first stage.

KVK noted E. Bagirov, it is expected that preparations for the certification of teachers will begin in June, the stage of test exams – at the end of August.

The results of certification will be taken into account with career growth and motivation of teachers, including financial motivation. Persons who do not participate in certification for good reasons or have not scored the minimum score necessary for certification will have the right to participate in resettration within 1 year while maintaining the place of work.

In turn, the director of the Institute of Education Rufat Azizov added that certification will be carried out in two stages – the stage of test exams and the interview stage. According to him, the exam will consist of 60 questions, of which 40 relate to knowledge of their subject, 20 questions will be according to the teaching methodology. Each correct answer is estimated at 1 point. Only those teachers who scored more than 30 points will be missed at the interview stage.

The stage of the interview will be evaluated in general at 40 points. Teachers who scored more than 20 points out of 40

will be considered completely completed certification at the stage of the interview.

Azizov also noted that pregnant teachers, teachers who are on maternity leave with children under the age of three, as well as male teachers will not participate in certification, raising a child alone.

Note that the Council for certification of education workers was created to organize the entire process, the charter and composition of the Council were approved. On all resources of the public, additional information will be provided about the following stages of the certification process.
