Russia will continue the diversification of gas supplies in the southern and eastern directions. This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Pavel Sorokin as part of the Eastern Economic Forum, which is held in Vladivostok.

First Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia also expressed confidence that sanctions by Western countries will not be able to prevent the development of Russian LNG industry.
“Sanctions – it cannot be said that they are absolutely not noticeable, but we see that they will not interfere, will not stop plans for the development of LNG industry,” said Sorokin.
According to him, “today the world is actively switching to LNG and the demand for it from the current about 400 and a small million tons will grow to 580-600 million for the next 6-7 years.”
“We will reach 700 million tons on the horizon for 20 years,” says Sorokin.
The Ministry of Energy also noted a significant contribution of the investment of the gas industry in the Russian economy.
“Gas can give a significant amount of investment in the country, we are talking about investments taking into account pipelines, LNG, field development – in the region of 1.7-2 trillion rubles on the horizon of five years,” he said.
