The Ministry of Enterprise and Products of Made In Italy approved the sale of the Aviation Company Piaggio Aerospace to the Turkish Baykar.
The offer of the world’s largest producer of shock unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) turned out to be the best on the tender for the purchase of the Piaggio Aerospace, a well -known Italian aircraft giant, founded in 1884, Baykar reported.
The company surpassed competitors who took part in a tender from different countries. Piaggio Aerospace is a well-known producer of P.180 AVANTI business defaults and aviation engines. Piaggio P180 Avanti is often called “Heavenly Ferrari”.
Piaggio Aerospace also plays a strategic role in the ecosystem of Italy defense industry, providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services. Piaggio with its 140-year history is known for making a significant contribution to the technological infrastructure of Italy.
Adolfo URSO, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Production of Italy, said that the company was secured by restarting the company thanks to a clear and ambitious industrial vision. “After six years of waiting, we offer Piaggio Aerospace the future. A company that is a strategic asset for our country is revived with a long -term production perspective, while corporate structures and labor are protected,” he said.
Production capacities will be strengthened
Thanks to the acquisition of Baykar, it will strengthen its influence in the European aviation market, and also strengthen its production potential, preserving the historical heritage of Piaggio.
A similar strategic step by Baykar will be another achievement of the Turkish aviation industry, thanks to the agreement it will be possible to maintain the historical identity of Piaggio.
In 2023, Baykar entered the top ten largest companies in Turkey with the largest exports in all sectors. The amount of export of the company amounted to $ 1.8 billion.
According to the report of the American analytical center CNAS, Türkiye is a leader in the market of the global export market of the UAV, it accounts for 65 percent of UAV supply.
Baykar, which is 3 times larger than its closest competitor in the United States, owns approximately 60 percent of this market.
In recent years, Baykar has been receiving more than 90 percent of his income from exports. Bayraktar TB2 Si̇ha and Bayraktar Akinci the company exports a total of 35 countries of the world.
