The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan met with the head of the representative office of the World Health Organization (WHO) in our country Hand Kharmandzhi, the department said.
During the meeting held in the constructive and friendly atmosphere, discussions were held on the implementation of joint projects in the future (the development of a joint strategy for immunization programs in Azerbaijan for the period 2024-2025; improvement of information systems of healthcare, supporting successful events related with global pandemia Covid-19; creating a joint group of readiness for emergency situations in the field of health care; cooperation to strengthen primary health care, etc.).
Opening the meeting, the Minister of Health Teymur Musaev emphasized that our country attaches great importance to the World Health Organization: “Over the past period, significant work has been done in the context of mutual cooperation, a number of projects at the regional and global levels have been successfully implemented.”
The minister also emphasized that the strengthening of primary health care is the basis of universal medical care. It was noted that the ministry was taking important steps in the direction of the transition to electronic document management, the use of digital and innovative technologies in the healthcare system, which will ensure universal coverage of health services.
Having emphasized many years of experience of WHO experts in the field of public health, Teimur Musaev noted the importance of dynamic cooperation on the creation of a family doctor in the regions of the country.
Touching on the issue of pandemia Covid-19, Teimur Musaev emphasized that our country constantly supports the activities of the World Health Organization related to the Pandemia of Coronavirus, and thanked the organization of the organization in Azerbaijan for his contribution to strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and WHO.
Having expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, the head of the WHO office in Azerbaijan Hande Harmandei expressed hope for the further successful development of cooperation.
Touching the question of the European agenda in the field of immunization for the period until 2030, H. Kharmandzhi emphasized that the immunization program will indicate a new direction to combat inequalities in vaccination coverage within countries and between them. The head of the WHO representative office, emphasizing the long-term close cooperation of Azerbaijan with the World Health Organization, expressed the willingness of the WHO in every possible way to strengthen primary health care.
