“Drug consumers are at risk. Their risk of infection Covid-19 and other infectious diseases above average.” This was stated by the general director of the Republican Narcological Center of the Ministry of Health Orhan Dzhafarov, speaking on the ministry page on Instagram as part of the fight against drugs.
He noted that recently the number of people who use psychotropic substances has increased. Among them, adolescents and youth predominate.

According to official statistics, the number of registered drug consumers in Azerbaijan for December last year was 34,602 people. 556 of them women. Two registered 14 years. 12 drug addicts aged 15 to 17 years old and 292 people over 65 were officially registered.
The director of the center added that there are still cases of using drug -containing drugs. However, there are fewer such cases than in previous years:

Jafarov answered the question about advertising on social networks of some psychotropic substances as a means for weight loss in beauty salons. He noted that there is no specific information about the proposal of such substances in the beauty salons:
“Of course, this is not a medicine, a crystalline substance similar to ordinary sodium salt. Women should pay attention to who recommends and supplies drugs for weight loss.”
The expert said that psychotropic substances or drugs really lead to weight loss. But this is just a pathological weight loss and it is temporary. And the consequences are very serious and fatal. Drugs cause strong changes in the internal organs, including the brain. As a result, nervousness, insomnia, rapid weight loss occurs, cysts form in the brain. Sometimes they also cause psychological complications that lead to mental illness.
Speaking of treatment in the narcological center, Jafarov said that treatment is carried out on a voluntary basis. Persons under the age of 18 can be placed in the center by a parent or a legal guardian.
