Ministry of Internal Affairs on arrest of NIDA activist

The Ministry of Internal Affairs commented on the information disseminated on social networks that the activist of the opposition NIDA movement Elmir Abbasov was subjected to pressure from police officers during his arrest.

As the head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ehsan Zakhidov told Qafqazinfo, Elmir Abbasov was not subjected to any pressure, the police officers did not mock him or insult him.

“His detention was carried out in full compliance with the requirements of the law,” said a spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Elmir Abbasov was administratively arrested for 30 days by a court decision. E. Abbasov is charged under Article 206 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (manufacture, acquisition, storage of narcotic drugs in quantities for personal consumption without the purpose of selling).
