Ministry of Labor on raising salaries and pensions in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, raising the minimum wage will cover 700 thousand people, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan said.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed on Thursday an order “On additional measures to improve the social welfare of the population”, according to which from January 1, 2023 the minimum wage in Azerbaijan will be 345 manat.

In 2022, this indicator was 300 manat.

Thus, from the New Year, the minimum salary in the country increases by 15%.

“This order ensures the beginning of the implementation of the fourth of the fourth of the past 5 years of the package of social reforms, the transition to the new stage of social reforms in the new year. The monthly tariff (official) salaries of workers employed in the state budget will be given in the sectors. compliance with the order during the month, and salaries will be increased in all steps of the Unified Tariff Table, ”the ministry said in a message.

The department also emphasized that the minimum wage by 40.2% will exceed the minimum cost of living (246 manat) set for this year.

According to the order, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has been instructed to submit proposals to the president to increase the minimum size of a retirement pension (MRTP) to 280 manat, as well as social benefits and pensions.

In 2022, MRTP was 240 manat. Thus, this indicator will increase by 16.7%.

In this regard, the Ministry of Labor reported that an increase in MRTP will affect up to 100 thousand pensioners.

At the same time, in 2023, about 745 million manat will be additionally allocated to increase social payments, these measures will cover up to 1.9 million citizens.

“Over the past 5 years, the minimum wage has grown 2.7 times in the country – from 130 to 345 manat, the minimum pension – 2.5 times, from 110 to 280 manat,” the ministry emphasized.
