Minsk And New Delhi Strengthen Interaction In Customs Sphere

Belarusian deputies at a meeting of the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Eighth convocation adopted the bill “On the ratification of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of India on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs affairs,” BelTA reports.

The draft law was submitted to the House of Representatives by the Council of Ministers on December 9, 2024. They provide for ratification of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of India on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters signed on June 28, 2024 in Brussels.

The agreement was developed in order to create a contractual base of bilateral cooperation between the customs authorities of Belarus and India.

Its implementation will promote the operational resolution of problematic issues in the customs sphere, will increase the efficiency of protecting the economic interests of Belarus.

The agreement determines the basic principles and forms of cooperation between the customs authorities of the two countries, the procedure for providing mutual assistance in order to properly apply customs legislation, organize the exchange of the necessary parties with information, interaction in the direction of suppression and investigation of customs offenses.

The measures provided for by the document will allow timely to receive the information necessary for the effective administration of customs payments, the correct classification of goods moved in mutual trade, ensuring compliance with non -tariff regulation measures, identifying illegal schemes aimed at evasion of taxes and duties.

The customs authorities that are entrusted with the implementation of the Agreement are: in the Republic of Belarus – the State Customs Committee, in the Republic of India – the Main Directorate of Indirect Taxes and Customs of the Department of Revenues of the Ministry of Finance of the Government.
