Lithuania takes a number of consistent steps aimed at escalating the situation on the border with Belarus.
This was announced by the Russian media by the official representative of the State Border Committee (Code of Civil Procedure) of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky, commenting on the decision of Vilnius about the unilateral termination of interaction to ensure uninterrupted flow of transport across the border.
On the eve of Lithuania, the Customs of Lithuania said that since February 16, the movement of freight trains from Belarus to Lithuania through the Stasilai border crossing (from the Belarusian side – Benyakoni) will be suspended. This decision is caused by the “increased threat of Lithuania national security.”
“This is a number of consistent steps aimed at escalating the situation, at the deterioration of the situation on the border,” he said, reminding of Lithuania adopted by the government in January, the decision on the denunciation of the contract with Belarus on the principles of border cooperation.
Bychkovsky called the next step of Lithuania, “aimed at getting out of obligations to the Belarusian side in terms of uninterrupted and rhythmic work points of the passes”, unconstructive and frankly unfinished.
“This can negatively affect the rhythm of crossing the border by people and vehicles,” said the official representative of the Code of Civil Procedure.
