The Border Department of Belarus fully controls the current situation on the Belarusian section of the external border of the CIS participants.
This was stated by the chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus, Konstantin Molostov during a speech at a regional meeting of the heads of border departments of the CIS participants, the press service of the State Border Committee of Belarus reports.
The head of the border department during the speech emphasized that the Baltic countries and Poland continue to build up the NATO military group and the conduct of exercises near the Belarusian borders.
At the same time, adjacent states strive to economically isolate Belarus, closing most of the checkpoints and ignoring the agreement on the number of vehicles accepted on the functioning routes of international message, Molotov noted.
Speaking about the situation in the southern borders, the head of the border department noted that the situation on the border with Ukraine remains complicated.
“The Ukrainian side continues to attract various armed and voluntary formations to the protection of the border, which significantly increases the risks of making provocations on the Belarusian -Ukrainian section of the border,” he said.
The eighth regional meeting of the heads of border departments of the CIS member states took place in the city of Khiva in Uzbekistan on March 28.
It was attended by delegations of the border departments of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops, as well as the delegations of the anti-terrorist center of the CIS participating states and the Executive Committee of the regional anti-terrorist structure of the SCO. Following the meeting, the participants summarized that the dynamic transformation of the geopolitical situation and international relations have a significant impact on the state of border security in the Central Asian and other regions.
In this regard, the border departments will continue to consolidate efforts for the high-quality implementation of measures of cooperation of the CIS member states in strengthening border security on external borders and the fight against terrorism and extremism.
