Belarus will pay national currency (Belarusian rubles) for debts for loans from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Northern Investment Bank (Sib). This is reported in the official Telegram Channel of the Republic of the Republic.
The Government of Belarus adopted a corresponding resolution together with the National Bank. “This is a forced measure, as Belarus is limited in calculations with Western lenders in US dollars and euro due to the imposed sanctions, as well as similar actions of the above-mentioned settlement organizations in their obligations,” the Deutsche Welle quotes.
In early March, the World Bank announced that it stops financing all its programs in Belarus. The bank was allocated a few hundred million dollars on various projects in the field of health, education and technical assistance.
