Mishustin: Russia is interested in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan

Russia is interested in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Moscow.

“Our mutual trade and economic turnover exceeded 612 billion rubles, or 98 trillion of Uzbek soums. In January – July, our mutual trade increased by another 14.5% and today amounted to more than 470 billion Russian rubles, or 58 trillion of Uzbek Sumov. We are actively developing investment cooperation. Russian companies are successfully working in the Uzbek market. Large joint projects are being implemented in energy, agriculture, transport infrastructure, digital economy, ”said Mishustin, whose words are quoted by the press service of the Russian government.

The head of the Russian Cabinet noted that the constituent entities of the Russian Federation work directly with Uzbekistan colleagues and partners. Among the leaders are Moscow, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk Regions, he said.

In addition, Mishustin stopped separately at the field of education.

“The most in Russia is studying Uzbek students – 63 thousand. Government quota is increased to 800. 15 branches of Russian universities are open in Uzbekistan. It seems to me that there are still opportunities for closer interaction,” he said.

In turn, the President of Uzbekistan noted progress in bilateral relations with Russia in all directions of cooperation.

“Our bilateral relations have risen to such a level – a comprehensive strategic partnership and allies. In recent years, we have achieved a lot thanks to the political will and [Russian President] Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], and mine. In all areas of our cooperation, there is progress,” he said.

At the same time, the Uzbek leader noted that his current visit to Russia is “very saturated with its content.”
