Russia, during its chairmanship in the CIS in 2024, intends to strengthen economic, humanitarian and other ties in the association.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting of the world of the heads of government of the Commonwealth, the Russian state media reported on Monday.
“Next year, the chairmanship goes to Russia. As President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin noted, among priorities – deepening economic interaction, expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, and the conjugation of Eurasian integration projects,” he recalled.
Mishustin noted that Russia considers the CIS a demanded format and intends to develop interaction in the association.
“Russia attaches special importance to the development of interaction in the Commonwealth of Independent States. This is a unique and demanded site to discuss significant issues of multilateral cooperation for the benefit of citizens,” said the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation.
The Russian prime minister thanked Kyrgyz partners for the productive chairmanship of the CIS in 2023.
Among the important decisions made in the Commonwealth, he allocated an agreement signed in June on free trade in services, which “organically complements the existing zone of free trade in goods created in 2011.”
“The document creates the basis for transferring our relations into a new quality,” said Mishustin.
Prior to the premiere meeting, together we examined the exhibition-forum “Russia” at VDNH, on the site of which the meeting is held.
Mishustin noticed that the expositions showed the achievements of the Russian regions and their key joint projects with the CIS states.
The Russian prime minister separately indicated that the countries of the Commonwealth have significant industrial, energy and agricultural potential, as well as rich natural resources and talented people.
