Moldova and Ukraine signed an agreement in Odessa on the introduction of the EPO Convention, Moldupres reports.
Signatures under the document were set by the Minister of Environment of Moldova Sergiu Lazarenka and Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Sagittarius.
with the signing of this agreement, Chisinau and Kyiv undertake to take all necessary measures to prevent, reduce and minimize the potential cross -border environment on the environment.
The general obligation is designed to ensure the effective implementation of a stable and healthy environmental policy for future generations.
“The cruel and unfair war of Russia in Ukraine leads to human victims, negatively affects both the economy and the environment. The negative consequences of the environmental destruction are not limited to borders. We will work together to reduce the negative impact on the environment and ensure that all social, economic and infrastructure projects develop without compliance with nature, ”said Sergiu Lazarenka.
Lazarenka also visited several objects injured as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
The Convention on Environmental impact assessment in a cross -border context (Sokr. The ESPO Convention) is an international agreement initiated by the UN European Economic Commission, signed in Espo (Finland) in 1991 and entered into force in 1997. According to the Convention, the procedure for assessing environmental impact (including public discussions) of potentially dangerous projects should be carried out not only inside the state, but also in neighboring countries that can be affected by the influence of these objects.
