The Moldova Government began the process of terminating agreements signed within the CIS, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nikolai Popescu Jurnal TV.
“Moldova said that she would join the EU, all the goals of foreign policy and participation in international organizations will be subordinate to the goals of European integration. It is obvious that the CIS will continue to exit the CIS agreements that are not compatible with our goals,” Popeska said. He noted that many of the 330 agreements that the republic signed over the years of independence “do not function or are not applied for the benefit of Moldova.”
In turn, the President of Moldova Maya Sandu previously spoke in to maintain relations with the Commonwealth, since we are talking about hundreds of agreements, including bilateral ones. According to her, it is necessary to continue the pragmatic cooperation with the CIS and after the country has received the status of a candidate for joining the EU. However, the head of Moldova never took part in the CIS meetings.
