The Code of Comrat (the capital of the ATO Gagauzia as part of Moldova) approved the victory in the election of the head of the autonomy of the candidate from the Opposition Party “Shor” Evgenia Gutsul.
After the approval of the election results, a meeting of the National Assembly of Gagauzia is convened to take the oath and take office of the new head of the administration.
The elected head of Gagauzia will officially take office 30 days after the announcement of the final results from the CEC.
Earlier, Moldova President Maya Sandu said that the elections in Gagauzia were held with numerous violations.
In the Gagauz ATO with a population of about 120 thousand people, they also speak Gagauz, which belongs to the Oguz group of Turkic languages.
Gagauzes received the right to autonomy in 1994 with the active support of Turkey. Most of the population of the ATO Gagauzia professes Orthodoxy.
Gagauzes are an important link in relations between Turkey and Moldova, which have reached the level of strategic partnership.
The head of Gagauzia is part of the Government of Moldova.
