Moldovan President Maya Sandu announced that next year the embassy will be opened in the capital of Kazakhstan Astana.
According to the statement of the President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev, who was in the capital of Azerbaijan in Baku, on the fields of the 29th conference of the parties (COP29) of the United Nations (UN) of the Climate Change, met with his Moldovan colleague Sandu.
During the meeting, the possibilities of expanding friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Moldova were discussed and an agreement was reached on the organization of mutual visits at a high level.
Sandu said that in 2025 the Embassy of his country in Astana will be opened, and this will contribute to the further development of bilateral cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Moldova, which proclaimed their independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union, were established in 1992.
In 1994, Kazakhstan opened its embassy in Ukraine and from there carried out its relationship with Moldova.
In 2014, Kazakhstan was opened by the Consulate General in Moldova. In 2020, by decision of the President of Kazakhstan, the Consulate General in Moldova began to perform the functions of the embassy. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Chisinau was appointed in 2022.
Moldova maintains relations with Kazakhstan through his embassy in Moscow. Sandu September 5 signed a decree on the opening of the embassy in Kazakhstan.
