Moldova Prime Minister Natalya Gavrilitsa spoke about her fears about the beginning of hostilities in the country, writes CNN.
“Of course, we are concerned,” Gavrilitsa answered the question of whether the approximation of the Russian troops feared in Chisinau. “If the fighting move further to the southwestern part of Ukraine and towards Odessa, of course, we are very concerned. Especially taking into account the fact that the troops are located on the territory of Transnistria,” the Prime Minister said.
However, she clarified that this is so far a “hypothetical” scenario. Chisinau does everything possible to maintain peace and stability, as well as to prevent the escalation of military operations.
In July, Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Joane said that he did not see military threats for Moldova from Russia. The Russian Federation has been conducting military special operation in Ukraine from February 24.
