The Moldova Government is constantly looking for an alternative to natural gas supplier. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic Natalya Gavrilitsa on the PROTV Chisinau TV channel.
“We are trying to find an alternative, but it is very difficult. We are negotiating with Azerbaijan, I spoke on the same topic in Qatar,” Gavrilitsa said.
She noted that Moldova is not a major consumer of gas, so other countries are more interesting for suppliers. At the same time, according to the head of the government, she sees no signs that Gazprom plans to break the contract, although she has the right to do so, since the Moldavian side still cannot fulfill the obligation to provide a debt repayment schedule.
Gavrilitsa also said that the government continues to look for an auditor who would agree to check Gazprom’s calculations for debt.
Recall that under the contract between Gazprom and Moldovagaz, the Moldavian side pledged to conduct an audit of many years of debt to the Russian side before May 1. According to Gazprom, the debt exceeded $ 700 million. In Chisinau, they disagree, but cannot find the auditor, referring to anti -Russian sanctions.
