Moldova parliament approved prohibiting Russian news programs Law

Moldova parliament approved in the final reading the law on the ban on Russian news programs, RIA Novosti reports.

The document prohibits the relay of news and analytical programs, as well as military films from the Russian Federation. The law defines the concept of “misinformation” as the intentional distribution of information that harms information security. In particular, we are talking about information that “justifies or promotes military aggression, hybrid type aggression, terrorism, dictatorial regimes.”

TV channels can be fined for distribution of content with misinformation in the amount of 2100 to 5255 dollars. In case of repeated violation, they face suspension of the action of the license for broadcasting for up to seven days.

The Code of Television and Radio Broadcasting includes a clause on the ban on the broadcast of programs from countries that have not ratified the Convention on cross -border television. These include Russia. The law will enter into force after publication in the official monitor.
