Moldova Parliament Ratified European Convention On Pets Protection

People’s Chosenians of Moldova ratified today the European Convention on the Protection of Pets, reports Moldipres.

The document contains provisions regarding the well-being and protection of the health of pets, the development of information and educational programs on compliance with the owners of animals with a good relationship with them.

Other provisions provide that the owners should not throw animals, but should provide them with all the necessary conditions and care.

Pets cannot be sold to people under 16 years of age without the consent of parents. Surgical interventions aimed at changing the appearance of the pet are also prohibited.

To implement the provisions of the Convention, financial sources available in the national budget, including the help provided by development partners.

Most of the deputies present at a meeting of deputies said that they had pets at home.

The European Convention on Pets Protection was signed in Strasbourg on November 13, 1987. It has already been ratified by 26 states.
