President of Moldova Maya Sandu called the prosecutor’s office to a fair investigation of the case of the former head of state Igor Dodon, accused of Stateismman and Corruption. It is reported by TASS.
The head of the Moldavian state announced the need to verify the progress of the investigation and find out how photographs from investigative measures got into the media. According to Sandu, the explanations of the anti -corruption prosecutor’s office that Dodon’s lawyers were leaked, she was not satisfied. She also noted that she herself learned about the investigation from the press.
Sandu emphasized that prosecutors should strictly adhere to the framework of the law. “I really hope that the prosecutor’s office does not engage in political games either by order or on its own initiative, because this will lead to further discrediting the prosecutor’s office, the system of justice and our European future,” she said.
On May 26, the court in Chisinau sent Dodon under house arrest for 30 days. According to the prosecutor Peter Yarmalyuk, the investigation had evidence that the ex-president intended to leave the country. On May 24, the anti -corruption prosecutor’s office detained the former president for 72 hours. He is suspected of Stateizmen, as well as corruption crimes.
