Moldova President Maya Sandu emphasized Chisinau’s efforts to maintain peace and stability in the context of conflict on the border and to strengthen its resistance to hybrid threats.
According to the press service of Sandu, the head of state visited the headquarters of the organization of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) in Brussels, as part of the 30th anniversary of the world between the Republic of Moldova and NATO.
This partnership contributed to the creation of a safer environment for citizens, strengthening the defense capability of the army and the stability of our society as a whole, the text says.
The Moldavian leader met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Discussions were focused on regional security, hybrid threats, including interference in the elections and corruption in the elections, as well as the need for joint actions to protect democracies in the region.
Turning to the North Atlantic Council, the main structure of NATO decisions, consisting of representatives of 32 member states, Sandu drew attention to the tactics of external intervention in democratic processes, such as illegal financing of parties and manipulating information that undermine the democracy and trust of citizens .
The President also emphasized the importance of international cooperation to protect democracies in the world and strengthen the world.
