Moscow called on Armenia to resume work in CSTO

Armenia’s return to work in the CSTO instead of attacks to Russia will contribute to a full dialogue as part of the organization by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Pankin in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, all CSTO participants are interested in further improvement of the organization and its effectiveness.

The diplomat added that this would contribute to the speedy return of Armenia to normal and full -fledged work within the CSTO. “Unfortunately, our Armenian allies have really distanced from her so far,” Pankin said.

He also added that the abandonment of Yerevan of membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEAS) would be unprofitable for Armenia, since this contradicts the interests of the country.

According to Pankin, the partnership within the EAEU is productive for Armenia. He added that the country over the past few years has become the Union leader in GDP growth, investment in fixed assets and volumes of construction work.

“Thus, from an economic point of view, Yerevan membership in the Union, of course, is profitable, and the rejection of it, in our opinion, would contradict the interests of the country,” said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The deputy minister also denied the split in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

He expressed confidence that Armenia would not follow the example of Moldova and would not want to get out of the CIS.
