Moscow: Russian-Tajikistan Interaction Was Discussed

Tajikistan is an important ally, a strategic partner of Russia in Central Asia. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda.

According to the press service of the Government of the Russian Federation, Russian-Tajiki negotiations were held in Moscow.

“Tajikistan is an important ally, a strategic partner of Russia in Central Asia. Our relations are built on the historical friendship and mutual respect of our fraternal peoples,” Mishustin said.

According to him, Russia ranks first among foreign trade partners of Tajikistan. “In January – February of this year, mutual turnover increased by 9% and amounted to 23 billion rubles,” he said.

“We pay attention to the strengthening of interregional interaction. Direct business ties with Tajikistan are developing more than 80 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. There are many promising joint projects in mechanical engineering, energy, mining,” Mishustin said.

The Russian prime minister also emphasized that Russia considers it important to strengthen the interaction in the field of environmental protection and supports Tajikistan initiative to preserve high -mountain glaciers in Eurasia.

In turn, Kochir Rasulzoda said that the Russian Federation was and remains the main partner of Tajikistan in foreign trade.

“From year to year there is a progressive increase in the turnover. Last year we almost approached the intended figure – $ 2 billion. For the first quarter of the current year, the volume of mutual trade increased by almost 40% compared to last year,” he said.

“As part of the preliminary agreement with the State Corporation” Rosatom “, a decision was made to study the issue of creating a center for nuclear medicine in the Republic of Tajikistan.
